Built by a Builder

Builders Table was started by someone who lived the problem — and figured out the solution the hard way, so you don't have to.

Shaun McCarthy

Founder, Builders Table — Syracuse, NY

I've been running a custom apparel business in Syracuse for years. Like most small business owners, I was drowning in manual tasks — processing orders by hand, sending the same emails over and over, chasing artwork approvals, scrambling to get quotes out the door. When AI tools started becoming accessible, I threw myself into figuring out how to actually use them in a real business context — not a Fortune 500 company, not a tech startup, but a shop with real orders and a real team trying to get things done every day.

The learning curve was steep. I wasted money on tools that didn't fit. I built automations that broke. I read books and watched videos that were either too technical or too theoretical. But eventually, things started clicking — and when they did, the time savings were dramatic. What used to take hours started taking minutes. What used to require my attention ran on its own.

I started Builders Table because I kept getting the same question from other business owners: "How are you doing all of this?" I realized the gap wasn't the technology — it was the translation layer between AI tools and how real businesses work. That's what I provide. Community-first, real-world-tested, and always honest about what actually works. Pull up a chair.

How We Think

Three principles that guide everything.

Real World First

Every recommendation, every tool, every workflow we suggest has been tested in an actual business environment. We don't recommend anything we haven't used or wouldn't use ourselves. If it doesn't work in the real world, it doesn't make it into our curriculum or our client work.

Systems Thinking

We don't just fix the symptom — we look at the whole picture. A tool is only as good as the system it lives in. That's why every engagement starts with an operational audit: we understand how your business actually runs before we suggest how to improve it.

People-Centered

AI should make your team more capable — not replace them with complexity they don't understand. Every system we build is designed for the humans using it. We train people until they're confident, then stay available when questions come up.

"Our mission is simple: help small businesses, creatives, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs implement practical AI-powered systems — without the overwhelm, without the hype, and without leaving anyone behind."
